I remember years ago my mum had a programme on her comp that gave you the basics to plan the layout of a room in your house.
You could add TVs and couches windows etc all to scale, anyone know what its called or even heard of it before as I'm planning to do the living room up soon.

Sketchup is good, but Visio is probably better if your not to clued up ion it, just download a visio shape pack for home objects.

At the risk of being all non-technical.........pen and paper?
A. Draw out the room size.
B. Cut out some furniture.
Move B around over A.
