If City fail to win a trophy this season do you think Nasri and Clichy will feel like knobs? Especially as they aren't even first teamers? Or will they be happy getting paid shit loads?

I would expect a casual England fan to have that opinion i.e. you're talking shite. For a change.

This.
Taking nothing from Bilbao, they played amazingly, but the United performance seemed like they had been told to not bother, Rooneys goal looked like frustration from him.

100% agree Bilbao in particular were sensational last night (as were wolfsburg actually) and surely Steve can't be saying Fergie didn't take it seriously
Says alot about the strength of the premier league these days. The Europe league has been quality this season and loads f leagues have done themselves proud, it's nothing to do with english teams not taking it seriously.

Really impressed with them, never seen a team with so much energy.
Fair play Strick, at least you've got the steel to admit it.

There's playing badly and being outplayed then there is what we saw last night, they weren't even completing passes you would expect from a Sunday league side, no effort to close anyone down, I can accept united were outplayed and beaten ny a better side, I cannot accept that was all united had to offer

So Ferguson told them to go out there and play badly? I'm sorry but you're talking nonesense as per, Bilbao taught you a lesson, end of discussion.

No i think maybe said go and give it a go but dont go mad trying to win it, who knows, all i know is i cant see that was united giving it all they had to win it, and if it was then everyone in here that supports a top flight premier league team better forget about bothering trying to get CL next year because based on what we saw last night, teams in europe make our prem league teams look like league 2 sides

look, im not going discredit bilbaos performance, the team were brilliant, the fans were fantastic and i dont think united were trying to throw the game, if they were they would have put out a far weaker side then that.
Look at the man city game also, i know they came back in the later stages but again dire from them, and it proves when they flick the switch they can dominate, either we are going into these european games with the wrong attitude, or these sides have somehow opened up a massive gap in ability and quality between last season and this one but i cant see that
in other news, anyone know whats happened to valencia? is there an injury i have missed?

I agree with some of your points, but on the whole you're talking rubbish.
The league isn't as strong as many would have you think, take United as an example, they are nowhere near the standard of previous United teams (CM and the whole back four needs work imo), Chelsea need loads of work too. Arsenal are still searching for consistency and still have plenty of weak points (again largely in defence and CM), Spurs imo are currently operating at their maximum and will probably nose dive as soon as Redknapp leaves, and Liverpool will have to wait a while to see the best of their good young prospects (and will probably spend some money too). City probably just need some more experience (and you’ll see a lot more confidence from them if they win the PL).
All of that said, one thing PL teams are good at is spending money and I expect most of those teams to spend big this summer. The league doesn’t want to lose its status and all of the money that goes with it so I can’t see many sitting on what they have. In reference to the lack of effort vs European teams improving thing, that’s absolute garbage, take the lesson on the chin and stop kidding yourself. If you know anything about football wider than the Premier League, you will know that the Portuguese league has some of the best academies in the world, plus the ability to take the top young talent from South America because of their relaxed work permit rules. You will also have seen Bilbao’s form in La Liga and know that the Basques like to play in a certain way, and have become very adept at that style of football. It’s ignorant folk like you that give English people a bad name

Are you some sort of cunt? Ferguson himself admitted Bilbao soundly beat them and have the chance to go all the way.
Bilbao would have gave Barca a game, at their own game, if they played like they did in the 2 legs against United. Very, very impressive.

I don't buy the told not to take it seriously thing. We had a fairly strong team out. Why risk playing that team if you aren't taking it seriously? Rio got an injury, not sure how bad. I wish he hadn't taken it seriously and put a load of reserves out there instead of risking the 1st teamers getting injured.
Bilbao were just a lot better and deserved it.
