I have fitted a c20let into my corsa, and using a wide belt setup and the alternator pulley is catching on the drivers chassis leg
has anyone else had this?
what was the solution? smack it with a hammer or?
I have fitted a gearbox spacer, if I remove this would the engine shift to the right and give me more space??

If you remove spacer you wont have gears
cant you get a smaller alternator pully? Have you lined it up properly?
Ive never had this problem ever with standard stuff so i dunno all my lets have just fit in with room?

Oh yeah I forgot to put in my thread Fazza I'm not running a spacer either
I know it sounds stupid but you haven't put the spacer on the wrong side have you? I've never used one so I'm not sure if it's possible but just a thought!

I'm not running a spacer aswell,my alternator is about 2mm off leg. Still unsure what to do as i don't want to use spacer with modded linkage. :/

I've got quite a bit of clearance on mine as it is
I know mounts make a difference, I really wouldn't want to be running too close to it just incase it decides to take the belt out.

I guess you'd need a spacer of some sort unless it isn't as close as you think?
Only other thing that I saw someone do was removing a bit of the chassis leg. It wasn't on a corsa though it was in a van. I wouldn't advise that one though

on my others that Ive built Ive never had any issues with clearance before. The last XE I built was into a corsa van, and that didnt even need a gearbox spacer.
I will have a look tonight, undo the mounts and try to twist the engine a bit to the right. It mustnt be sat right I guess, Id rather not smack the chassis leg with a hammer though

im guessing its because your using a wide belt alternator system, as on standard redtop they advise you to use the single v with double bottom pulley, so the same would go for the LET aswell. you can get away with just getting a double v bottom pulley (if your running hydraulic power steering) a belt and a 1.2 8v alternator fits as a replacement if you have one about.

If I removed the spacer, is the engine going to come more to drivers side or go towards gearbox side?

i have this same problem. running the spacers also. is there any alternator pully to match the single v bottem pully? or would using a spacer on the driver side mount also work?

I used a thinner multi v alternator pulley and a thinner belt to get more clearance.
