Looking at getting myself and bike, will not be used to get too and fom work so just out with my mate through local woodland and a bit of road riding.
Really like this boardman http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_777773_langId_-1_categoryId_165499
Or the hardrock pro http://www.leisurewheels.co.uk/products.php?plid=m1b0s2p8707
Apart from the obvious price difference is there much between them ??
Cheers

I'd take a look at Cube mountain bikes as well, i'm tempted by a full suspension Cube but it's £1200. Think they have hardtails like the ones you posted for about £600 though, worth a look

I've got the Hardrock Pro (albeit an old one) and I really like it. I researched it loads when I bought it and it seemed to come out top for that price, that was about 5 years ago though.

I've got a 2011 Cube LTD Race. Got the '11 model cos it was £350 less than the '12 model and has a better spec than the latest one imo. Its an ace bike and rolls really fast. If you're after buying a brand new bike hold out for last years models cos you save loads which can go towards up grading bits.
