Got a bit of a soft spot for e39 m5's at the moment...
i know broster has one and im sure he would be able to advise me better but the noise, the look just love them..
thing is.....the mrs drives the car most of the time and if the car gave way...RWD... it would either be pavement or whatever is in the way.
so much car for the money.
Am i getting old?!?!
expensive to repair im sure i would prob try most things... but common faults are they best to be upgraded (manifolds a problem cracking??)

Bought a 523se for £220 the other day, normal models are pennies now, and m5s are a bargain

I would think it would need to be pushed to let go.
As long as you're missus isn't a maniac, im sure she would be fine driving it.

F10 M5 wouldnt have helped residuals, think they're fugly though, but new BM's are usually growers.

Pm me if you want any info. Or if you want to pop over and have a look round etc that's fine.
If your in the market for one get a face lifted one, better lights, engine is better and nicer widescreen tv if you get sat nav.
Don't buy a cheap one IMO! Loads of cheap ones about but the repair costs can be shocking!!!
The noise if awesome! Especially with full exhaust and manifolds!

Also they are so nice to drive, I wouldn't worry about the misses driving it, you can drive them nicely and the 275 rear tyres tens to keep them in line well especially with the traction control turned on

Not had much experience of the E39 but if the traction control is as good as my E60 M5's then she will be fine. Really does keep it in check!
