With him giving you a '£1500 car' as a deposit though. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to phone him, but it's not the most absurd thing ever - if I lived near to him and had the car free for the weekend I'd consider it for £120

Slight difference in that with a rental company you have to sign a rental agreement which outlines exactly what their terms and conditions are, contains a damage report etc. This lad turns up, takes your car for a couple of days, scuffs the bumpers, rips a seat, drops a lighter on the centre console and melts it then hands it back and denies any knowledge and claims that all the damage was done prior to him borrowing it, what happens then? He only wants a bigger car, not like he wants to lend an expensive one. Someone might have a big old volvo worth £200 and thinks it's worth the risk.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Could go wrong either way, someone buys an old big car for £300. Meets him. Borrows his £1500 car and strips it and sells parts whilst he's away after giving him false details
