Need to change it on my car. I've got a gasket that's a kind of cork like material, not a rubber one.
What sealant will I need and is it necessary to use a thread locking compound on the bolts when refitting the sump?
Thanks.

Any silicone sealant will work fine, although you can get proper gasket sealant which is always better.
And you don't need thread lock, just torque then all up, not very tight, they're only usually 8-12nm

I've been told the opposite somewhere else lol. That with a cork gasket sealant probably won't be necessary but that if Haynes recommend it the threadlock should probably be used.
8-12Nm is pretty loose isn't it? My torque wrench only goes down to 25Nm, will just have to do them up tight by hand I suppose.
