Thats a bit of a sweeping statement on 'flats' Fad

Why on earth are flats moneypits?

We havent lost any money on the houses/flats we've owned/bought/sold.

2 bed Flat in Edinburgh, bought in 2003 or 2004 for 140k - sold in 2007 for 175k

2 bed flat in Aberdeen, bought for 280k in 2006 - sold for 325k in 2011 (spent a fair bit so didnt really make much)

2 bed flat in Aberdeen, bought for 40k 2010, sold for 100k 2011. Part owned so not all profit ours.

Just bought a 4 bed house for 500k :/ Needs a fair bit of work and has lots of potential.

If I (we) hadnt bought a flat just around 8years ago I doubt we'd be in the position to buy a house like this.

I bought a penthouse apartment in town 11 months ago for £146k and it's already valued at £165k without having done anything to it, and I am already renting it out for more than the mortgage payments with capital repayment over 15 years so it's a good investment and the extra money helps towards mortgage on my main house :-)

Own my house. Don't live there anymore, renting it out, creaming a nice profit while living back at the rents. I do intents to move before I'm 23 though (not long left) and rent a place in city centre for a few years. Far less hassle if you split up with a bird of your renting so that's my plan for a few years to make sure it's all good. Was a right chew last time!

Own our house. If you count having a mortgage as "owning".
