Battery light on (dim and flickering) whilst driving.
Put stereo lights etc on, it turns to a solid bright battery light.
Idling is a solid light too.
My first faults were alternator, however AA man put multimeter on battery and said is being charged fine

Gotta be alternator or battery itself (have heard of the point where the battery ground bolts to the car being loose/corroded). My bet would be alternator even with what the AA man said. Did you see the voltage on the multimeter? If not put a multimeter/voltmeter across the battery with the car running and it should show approx 14V.

Yeah, it said just under 14 volts. 13.72 I think.
I drove home for 45 minutes so it must be getting some charge

Had the same problem on my focus after fitting a new cylinder head, charged battery fine, everything worked fine but light would flicker on.
I hadn't tightened the bolt on the thick red to alternator/starter check for loose connections and check the earths.
