Why are they sold with 8mm of tread? Why not say 15mm so they last longer? Ha

8mm is about as much as you can go without the blocks deforming when you corner.

Try cornering in a 4x4 with off road tyres. That'll tell you why we don't have tread that deep.

indeed - they tend to come with 10+mm tread
