So I got bored and started to sand down some items the repaint them, I got to the clear coat stage, applied 3 thick coats and now believe I need to sand down the clear coat with wet 1200grit and then polish it after ?

This is the gear stick/ gear gaiter surround, it's nice and smooth but is a bit orange peel so wondered if it was correct to sand down the clear coat, seems a bit of a weird thing to do.

Yeah its normal to wet sand clear coat and polish it up. 1200 grit is too coarse tthough, I'd recommend 2000 grit or if its very orange peely 1500.

Thanks, I shall try some 2000 and hope it comes out a little better.
