Sorry to everyone who is now looking at other cars! (please don't buy the R32 i want! )

I think i'm ruling the ST out, simply because it's not a facelift and i think it's probably the most expensive to run out of the three.

It is difficult to choose between the R32 and Astra though!

My mates R32 is due a major service (Oil and filter, DSG service and 4WD service) and he's been given a "discounted" price of £750 from VW I'm guessing alot of that will be the DSG service though? That doesn't include plugs or any other filter changes either!

I don't think i'd even get a milltek for it if i got it, my mates is completely standard and sounds awesome as it is, i could probably extend to the flapper mod though!

A nice pay rise would come in handy for the running costs i think! I'm going to go look at it today, see about a test drive etc

I don't think i could settle for a GTi really

Plus these engines can handle the higher mileage providing they're looked after properly

He's being seriously ripped off at that price. I had my major service done at the main dealers which was everything above including plugs and filters minus the DSG as I had a proper gearbox and it came to a total off £240 all in. The Dsg service is only an extra £100.

see if you are worried about running costs then you really shouldnt be looking at these cars iam afraid. The whole point of being able to afford one is you can afford monthly repayments, daily running costs, insurance and maintanence. If you can then by all means go for a Golf R32. I have owned an astra..... loved every second of it but the week after I bought it a Golf r32 came up at the same price was soooo gutted.

You can honestly afford it Golf all day long!!!!

R32 out of your choices without a doubt.

Will have some facelift wheels for sale too this weekend

Would be better off driving them all and seeing what you prefer though.
