I sold my 450D body on Ebay for £185 so i decided to splash out on some new stuff...
A Lencarta Smartflash 200: £120.
2.6m spring damped stand for the flash head to sit on: £20
http://www.lencarta.com/lighting-store/flash-heads/general-purpose-stand
I also got myself a 120cm x 80cm softbox: £30
So all in all, i'm a happy chappy. I got eveything I wanted/needed within budget
Just gotta wait a few days before everything arrives I hate that part.

Glad to hear it. I read a few reviews before buying it and it sounded like a good buy.
What do you work as? Is it for product photography?

I wasn't aware of the price of it, I was expecting it to be more to be honest.
Work inhouse, web development / marketing. Yep product, mainly. However some still action shots (still poses) have been used with it for advertising for fencing competitions etc.

Yeah, it seems a decent flash for the money. Although it's a lot cheaper than my 430EXII was

So i've heard. Unfortunately I ordered from 123photosupply.co.uk as they had in stock and Lencarta didn't at the time.
I ordered the flash from there on Saturday evening. The site said they had 97 in stock. However I got an email today (the day when it should have been delivered) saying,
"Hi Murray,
Unfortunately, we dont have this item in stock at the moment. The supplier is currently out of stock and we are expecting them in around 2 weeks time. Will it be okay to despatch it when we have it in stock?
Kindly let me know how you would like us to proceed with this order.
Regards"
Their site still suggests they have 97 in stock!
I emailed back telling them it was not acceptable for them to advertise they have items in stock when they don't. Then failing to inform me until the day of intended delivery. I took today off work to make sure I received it because I need it for a shoot asap.
I get another reply saying,
"Hi Murray,
We've been able to find one for you. This oder will be despatched today for delivery tomorrow.
Apologies for the delay and misunderstanding.
Regards"
Now I can only assume their supplier is Lencarta, because Lencarta themselves are out of stock of brand new units, however they are selling refurbished ones at £83.99.
I emailed asking if it was a refurbished one from Lencarta, but no reply...
I sincerely hope 123photosupply aren't going to send me a refurbished one and still charge me the full amount.
Not got good feelings about this for some reason...
Edit: I had no need to worry. It arrived and it's definitely a new model. Packaged and sealed.

I got everything yesterday
Garry from Lencarta was able to help me as you suggested, so thanks for that suggestion
He said it uses 230 watts with the modelling lamp off and 370 watts with the lamp on.
I'd also need a pure sine wave power inverter to run the unit.
So next time I have the available funds i'll be getting this: http://www.commsandsound.com/mercury-pure-sine-wave-inverters-600w-12vdc.html?source=googleps

That one is signed by Mel Gibson. It was bought at a charity auction.
It's a litte "in your face", so that's why it's hung up in our down stairs living room. We're never in there.
