Currently i have a road bike and the main reason i dont use it too much is that the valves are shit.

I honestly hate presta valves and they are worse on this bike! The tire i have is 700 x 28c.

What alternatives is there? Is it something im doing wrong?

i know to only unscrew a little bit, but on this bike they sometimes stick in when pumping so they are seeping out.

Am i best to just get a foot pump as to be a bit more gentle with them?

I have presta valves on my inner tubes. Never had an issue with them. I use specialized tubes.

Not at all Tom. I Pump my tyres up before each ride and I ride pretty much every day!

When trying to blow up simon, haven't been on it for 8 weeks, seems to be leaking air when riding too.

Well as long as you are unscrewing valve to blow it up and then carefully tightening valve up after not releasing any air, only needs to be done by hand then the only other thing to check is for punctures or a dodgy valve. You could switch the shrader (car type) valves but check the rims first, sometimes the valve hole won't be large enough for them.

I have the same pump as Jamie and never had an issue, the only tyres I pump before every use is my track bikes but theres good reason for that

I dont think it will simon, apparently sometimes presta have a bit more of a lip inside to of the rim.

Going to just get some new tubes as the valves are slightly bent too.

Presta valves are good IMO, if your using a hand pump you wont be able to get enough pressure in the tube so will be easily forcing he air back into the pump and leaking out.

exactly... i only use a cheap hand pump if i get a puncture out cycling.. i have a BBB pump for pumping it up at home.. get a good 5-6 bar in no probs... then just tighten the valve up.
