Hello,
Are there any decent tutorials for better results in product photography with reflective items? I've taken over 10,000 photos in the last 12 months for websites etc, but im never happy with results with reflections.
I use a 2 main lamps on through the side of a softbox and 1 main flash under where the camera is sitting.
I've had a look through a talk photography but nobody has ever really asked.
It's light distribution im mainly having problems with.
Best example to show you what I mean...

Granted it's not as shiny, but a result like this, to me looks better?
Sword i'm having trouble with too.... Haven't bothered with this one obviously, but usually have to heavily photoshop to keep the blade the same colour all the way down.

i take it a simple circular polarizer isn't enough?

Nah, tried it. Just takes the shine away completely or makes the whole thing ultra reflective

I'd take away the main flash under the camera.
And maybe move the softbox closer so the reflections are more uniform.

The ones above are taken without flash mate, only use it for non reflective stuff, but have used it on that sword.
They're already close, same effects and reflections inside a light tent.

try bouncing the flashes round the room rather than pointing them at your subject.
