Looking at buying a later shape (2001) 306 HDI on Egay.

Any thing common on them i should look out for?

206's suffered from the rear radius arm bearing... never seen a 306 suffer from one.

they all suffer from this, water ingress into the bearings,
2.0 hdi engine is a very good engine if treated right, cambelts change regularly serviced.

I have a 406 Hdi and its boss 60mpg cruising at 60-65mph.

I also had a 307 Hdi and that blew its head gasket and cost me £1500

Great little cars. Engines go forever and can go pretty well too with a few tweeks

HDI's have an ecu so can be remapped for more power/torque, whereas the 1.9 d turbos can be turned up with an allen key if you fancy it. Both fairly reliable engines though.
