My car is currently just parked in my parents driveway but sits along side a road/path that is used by lots of people.
Will I get fined for putting a sign up in my rear quarter window?
EDIT - article in which a guy got fined:

Thanks lovely people, found this:
quote:
Advertising vehicles for sale
Some garages and businesses place cars for sale, for an extended period, on the street and in lay-bys. This can cause a significant nuisance to local residents and takes up valuable car parking spaces.
It is an offence for a business to leave two or more vehicles advertised for sale within 500 metres of each other on a road.
If a proprietor of a business advertises cars for sale on the road they can be prosecuted by the council. On conviction they can be fined up to £2,500. The council may deal with the matter by issuing a £100 fixed penalty notice (£60 for early payment).
This offence targets people who run a business and use the road to store and advertise their vehicles. It is not intended to target occasional individual private sellers of single vehicles.
Yay!

Don't waste your time, a decent add with decent photos at a fair price will sell on pistonheads in hours.

Don't worry just found it.
Price seems alright and milage is lower than others in the price range.
I'd mabee make it abit more detailed as while you have listed all the cars features there's no mention of condition or how long you have owned it, service history etc

Just read it again and noticed you don't mention mot or tax ether. You really need to have these and details of the service history on a car like this (unless your keeping it quiet for a reason lol)

Yea get the details on, if it had decent service history and full mot I would pay close to your asking price.
With nether of these I would probely pay half max of what you are asking. These things make a huge difference to buyers

You can still be fined as an individual for putting a sign in, same as you can't set up a stall selling things on the street without the appropriate permissions.

Have you got an advert on here too? If not get one up and link to it from your sig.
I would also consider selling on eBay. Every car we've ever sold has been through there and not really had any problems. I'd start the auction on a Sunday evening or Monday evening though for maximum profit.

Cheers Sam, I may try eBay or Pistonheads if it doesn't sell on Autotrader.
I probably need to take some more pics of it, but I'm too busy/lazy.
I was offered £3.5 for part-ex, which I may take if I can't pluck up the courage to answer my phone
Ian, the car would be off the road (on a driveway)? I doubt that matters though.
I don't think I'll get fined as Slough's council wording kinda says they're not bothered by private individuals.
