Yes i bought another pug 
Had Fords over the past few years as company cars. Nothing but issues with the Ford Connect but the Fiesta i had i couldn't fault after 23k. The 56 plate Corsa Van i bought was rotten!
Peugeot Garage is local, had a few decent pugs in the past and like the 207 / 308 so ended up buying a 59 plate 308 1.6 vti 120 Sport with 16k on the clock for a very good price.
Car is doing 34 MPG  All motorway to and from Preston at 55 / 60 / 70 MPH.
Can people advise this is not right and i should be getting 45 / 50 MPG at least... I know it's a petrol but i plan on doing less than 20 miles a week in the next few months.

Urban Fuel 30.4 mpg
Extra Urban 55.4 mpg
Combined 42.8 mpg
if the garage is local and thats what you are getting with purely motorway driving, sensible driving, then something isnt right so take it back

I'm not sure I'd be expecting book figures from it unless I drove like a granny to get up to speed and then pootled along with cruise control on tbh.
A mate has a 1.6 MK5 Golf which barely does better mpg than my E46 325 (ie. high 20's, low 30's) - he doesn't thrash the hell out of it, but he also doesn't drive it amazingly carefully, just 'normally'

I was averaging 42. somthing in my 07 with 50k on the clock a few years back. This is a newer engine and i was expecting close to the figures as per my 1.25 petrol Fiesta.

Tad bigger than the 1.4 petrol Astra we also have. Seems a lot better on fuel.
Will get it looked at, if nothing comes back wrong it will have to go. Not the end of the world!

So because its 6/7 mpg less than you was expecting you are going to get rid? Have all the expense of changinc car/insurance etc to save what? £20 a month maybe, try running a v8 for a week im lucky if i get 15mpg where book figures are 20+

Get off the wagon, and get the facts all not stated on here before typing.
Insurance swop to a simlar vehicle is free, i was expecting around 50 mpg, not low 30s, the 308 i got at a very good price meaning i can get shut for simlar money and my my mileage at the moment is around 25k a year. This could go either way also, i.e. 3k per year or 30k. Again, do not come back stating i would be stupid doing this sort of mileage. If the money is there i will do it, again.
I do not care what you drive, this is your choice, i asked advise on my own motor.
I can afford to keep running the 308 at this mpg but i'm not willing to feed the goverment money i do not need to.

When did youe ver ever think in the real word a 1.6 petrol car bigger than a Focus or an Astra would average 50MPG? Are you on crack?

Entitled to your opinion Pow. Mine is different. I should be getting somewhere near the stated figures. If Ford can get this correct, i'm sure Peugeot can. It's in there best intrest really.
Another example, if you bought Microsoft Server 2008 Standard and it states you can file share with permissions. I want to be able to set permissions.
Will get the car checked over, if Peugeot advise the car is just how it is, i will have to get something smaller diesel.

My V6 petrol averages about 23mpg of mostly town driving, and 25mpg of mostly motorway driving.
So a 'heavy' 1.6 petrol doing 34mpg sounds about right to me.
If fuel economy was an important factor in what you drive, then I am failing to understand why you bought a heavy 1.6 petrol engined car instead of a diesel or some super fuel efficient petrol engined car?

Sounds about right. As said its a heavy 3 year old 1.6. Mums got a 60 plate 1.6 Astra and its shocking on fuel, just too heavy for the engine size. Want good mpg should have bought a diesel. Simple.

A service might help but i wouldnt expect much better figures.
I dont think manufacturers include start stop / rush hour traffic nonsense in their mpg numbers.

I don't know exactly what model it is, but on the honestjohn website - http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/realmpg/results?manufacturer=peugeot - the 308 sw 2008 with a 1.6vti auto gives back 33.3mpg real world.
