Would this even be feasable??

Im pondering a Corsa C20XE out here but for all the pissfarting about ordering bits from the UK i figured i'd probably be easier buying a whole conversion from UK and having it sent?

Anyone any input other than 'good luck'?

Surely got to be a car out there with an xe in it standard? Will cost a bomb to ship an engine out there I'd imagine.
Do they not have xe/let specced opel/ Vauxhalls?

Well i guess i could get engine box here but its all the other shite really that id want sent.

If its 2nd hand as well it will keep the cost down.

You get Calibra XE and LET's here but most are high milers.

Would still be cheaper to rebuild a high mile engine over there than get an engine sent over?

It aint worth it, I looked into it but I found a Calibra with low milage over here and took that engine out.

Most other conversion bits I got sent over by my Dad, tbh I wouldn't do it again. I am still piss farting about trying to get mine registered

Why not choose a car / engine combo that's easily accesible over there?

Or was that your point, that you wanted something uncommon?

Yeah thats the whole idea really.

Corsas are fairly largely hated or classed as girls cars and thus are rarely tempered with.

My mate just paid $10,000 for a K20 swap for his Civic which didnt quite tickle me.

I reckon you could have just as much fun on a track with a light Corsa XE.

The majority of stuff here is either V8 Commodores which are too common, or Jap stuff which is fairly mainstream here too.

The look on someones face as you go hooning past them in a 'facken Barina' would be priceless!

Having coilovers checked, damping rates, etc compared to standard
Noise tests
Car height
Clearances

All to do with an engineers report, which is a ball ache, then has to got for an inspection.

Been going on for weeks now, got the noise test in the morning then hopefully get the report back next week and then tested.

Plus it aint the easiest or cheapest thing to get parts for, I have been getting stuff sent from England as its cheaper rven with postage.

Should be fun when its on the road tho.

I take it the car was unlicensed?

Id have licensed it in standard form then done the engine swap and registered that?

You can only go up 200cc increments without a permit if i remember right?

Apparently you can register it as an 1800, then register the 2.0 as a little loophole.

Just ask a shipping company, and find a couple of other people who you know well enough if they want any bits from the UK, get them out in a 20 good shipping container then have them sent over to you. I'm sure a repitable large international removals company could sort it all out for you.

It's a lot of hassle. Need to obtain an import permit before any one will touch it due to the demuurage charges of it sat in a bonded warehouse

I appreciate its not a vehicle bit as it can be used to create one the same process is required. Believe it or not you need an import permit for a granny buggy.

If you want a rate to ship it I could get you one on Monday. Just need to know where from and where to.
