surely there must a perminant live going into the doors?
what about central locking?
earth isn't such a problem, even if it comes to drilling a hole in the door and bolting the earth to the body.
sonny did u order the leds from the computer shop link? cheap + 12v + ultrabrite.

I used the live from the electric window switches, but there only live when the ignition is on (ie switch '2' on the key turn!)
The live is brown, the earth is black.
I think you can use the central locking, not sure. If you do earth it by drilling a hole make sure there isn't any bare metal or it'll rust. I'd do what I did and what Kris says and just tap into an existing earth wire.

rich, sometimes its the earth which is on the relay not the live. use a multi meter to find a permanent live, there must be one somewhere going into the doors, i would imagine the central locking is one. then tap into the earth.
just wired up some red neons in my foot wells. took a permanent live from the headunit and an earth from the ciggie lighter. the live to the ciggie lighter only works with the ignition so hence why i didnt use it.

Gotcha Kris. I think the central locking is apermanent live but I've not tested it.
Sonny, The brown wire from the electric window switches is the live. the black is the earth. I'm not sure however if this is true for alll Vauxhall wiring, but it is in this case.
Best thing to do to find the lives etc is to use an electric screwdriver that works on 12v.
I used plastic blocks that clip onto the existing wire and allow a second wire to stem from them. Got them from halfords. I don't think there the best technique (soldering or crimping would have been better) but it did the trick. There was quite a bit of wire to play with, but I did it nearest to the loom I could so I could tuck the plastic blocks away.
Hope this helps.
Kris - get some piccies of your doors all lit up! My RED LED looks very 'ambient' (ie faint!!) in the dark, but I'm happy with the results.

Just had a look,
i can find a live but no earth.
I havent got electric windows , just central locking.
i can find a brown wire but not a black one.
i'm gonna test the wires with my screwdriver, but just thought i'd ask here to.
another thing, did u guys get rid of that white film (weathering) from the doors?
cheers
