They build all their own hardware and also enterprise search appliances.

Not in this country by the sounds of it. A mate of mine works in a data centre in Maidenhead and he reckons the Google stuff is all Dell hardware (with Google branding).

I know it's wikipedia and not the absolute authority on it, however, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_platform#Current_hardware which matches the article I read about them somewhere.

I'm sure they do use Dell somewhere though, just about every datacentre in the world will be full of them.
