Why stay away from an auto? I'd say it suits the car more tbh.

We have a 2002 Msport 330 and its very nice indeed.

Hedgehog resistor
Window regulators
Squeaky seats

Those are off top of my head. Generally quite reliable tbh.

I've just sold my 330Ci Clubsport manual. Great car for lazy cruising but if you want to drive fast it'll cost you. I did about 8500 miles in 6 months averaging less than 25mpg... For the first month or so I was averaging 18mpg :O

you must have heavy right foots.

i think my engine is the same, an M54 3.0 manual and i average 27mpg with mixed driving. can easily get 35+ mpg with steady cruising.

We had a 325ci and felt it was a little slow. Was a lovely car though.

I've got a 330 manual and love it, low 20s round town and high 30s on the motorway.

Guy at my work has a 330 msport auto.

Don't get a 325, you'll regret not getting a 330. His auto averages 16/17 mpg. He rarely uses it, his dad uses it more just pottering around so that's Probly why. Very nice car though and extremely well specced.

I had a 330 auto and was really bad on fuel. If you're not bothered about that though id get one. They are reliable, my mate has a bm breakers and has loads of auot boxes spare and nobody ever rings up for them, but if it does break then let me know

I sold it and bought a manual clubsport and i much prefer the manual, better fuel consumption aswell but if you are wanting an easy car to drive around in the auto is perfect!

Edges - how much did you let it go for if you dont mind me asking?

iv got a 330 auto and its a nice car to drive, enough power to get you places fastish when you want but not enough power to get your ass twitching every time you leave a straight road when cruising

cons not mentioned -can have crappy wireing looms if an early one, ICV is a common fault so is perishing on the rubber pipeing from airbox, wheel sensors can knock off the DSC! autobox is as tough as old boots, not as well maintained cars or ones with a hard life seem to eat oil but as with all bmw's get a fsh

as for mpg my average is 20 but about 95% of that is town driving! think the book states 27mpg av and id believe that's right and easily achevable

Just to say my 325 averages 26-27, neighbours 320 averages 24, a mates 330 averages 25....

Auto makes for very lazy 'wafting' - I wanted an auto, bought an auto, but now miss manual! I think the only time to avoid auto is SMG on M3's tbh...

On motorway trips on cruise I can get 33-34

I drove my dads 330ci on a 400 miles round trip last month and got averaged 31mpg.

I think it's normally sat about 25 as my dad does mostly short trips.

Auto is the one to buy, however with higher miles the box can be a risk (typical GM auto box) and the usual suspects are the torque converter or vesssell. Generally well documented so base your decision on what you feel confortable with.

Auto 330ci's are desirable. Manuals are a bt hit and miss IMO
