Ran out of wire for welder today, about an inch left to weld too!!
so will have to finish it in morning now. Pretty much most of it done, then just fill the joints and seal it all up.

Could be to be honest. Only done just over 3k too, and is the Sportive with 17's and exterior pack etc.
Unrecorded cars aren't great really as so many are bodged back on the road and people are none the wiser. I have one myself though that I've just finished this week, although I repair mine properly!

Cheers mate. 7 years now. Started at 16 and just turned 24 couple weeks back.
Haven't really done much paint lately, although I did get asked to do my first "job" few week back, was for my managers friend, repair sill and a second hand door, did the repairs etc then primed and painted it too, came out really well. No pics though.
Ill be doing the arches on my Puma in the near future before i put it for sale, so will have a bash at painting that too. We're just about to move body shop at work though so pretty busy at mo, if I'm not working on cars I'm at our new place helping finish stuff off. But we have a brand new booth at the new shop so may do the Puma in that

Me and my fiancee did a year at college doing lvl 2 paint refinishing.
Getting into a place now isn't proving to be easy without being time served.
I take it you entered as an apprentice?

Just silver. V reg 1.7. Didn't have a car and it came up cheap so just bought it for sake of it
Yeah started as an apprentice, was sent to college at Thatcham in Reading.
I imagine it is hard to get into a job. Wish I'd done paint instead of panel tbh lol. Hence why I'm sort of teaching myself.
I know basic mechanics too, service, brakes suspension etc. mechanic was off on holiday other week (we only have one) and I had to put on a 10 plate Polo, a driveshaft, bottom arm, and track rod end.

All just loosely on really so will fit up well, but not for me to do, was picked up at dinner time hence why it's outside.

Unfortunatly what they teach you at college is nothing like the real world. I take it you went to booth lane?
You should be able to get a place but with your experience you will be on basic hourly rate.
Looks like a nice repair Andy. Nice to have some new panels on there. From a painters side that's nice and easy aswell. Spot prime, flat, wow and then paint. Job done. YoU work at a small place?

I agree Graeme. As much as Paul has done the degree side of things. He hasn't had enough work side of things as practice.
Yeah cheers its a small place, me and 2 other panel beaters, a mechanic, 1 paint prep guy who's pretty much too old now, 1 painter who's the same, and 1 young painter.

Graeme & Andy I know what you guys are saying. Only reason we went to college was because when I tried getting into anywhere before they wanted qualifications and now I have the certificate they all want time served. I'd happily start on a basic rate somewhere but not having an luck. Also went to nuneaton Graeme.

By basic rate do you mean minimum wage and be prepared to be on that for a while? Try getting into one of the big places to get experience. Inchcape over by you and them work your way up.

I've ended up taking a job doing something completely different for the time being but yea inchcape was the first port of call but they wanted experience aswell. Will keep trying though. In the meantime we just keep doing our own bits and some jobs for mates.
