Budget of about £900 for bike (probs hardtail), shorts, tshirt, coat, bag, shoes and helmet etc.. Don't want to be going in unequiped...
Will also need a bike rack to fit a Corsa d or e46 m3 so roof mounted pref.
Where's good to go?
Once I have a bike where do I find good places to ride?

Where abouts are you based?
Reviews of some £900 hard tails in latest mag I read, the recommended bikes were the Specialized rockhopper expert, scott scale 29 comp.
Where do you live?

Why bother with a bike rack. Tarp in the back of the car does the job.

Thrunton woods, chopwell woods.
Both good in the area. Kielder water has a track all the way around it now, 26miles, also got some marked trails running off at different points too.
