if i was fully comp and covered to drive others on my own car, would i be able to drive a mates car which is on his traders policy?

Ask your insurers. But if its actually listed on it thenni don't see why not

Yeah I'd double check your policy as you're not insured on other cars 3rd party by default, however it can be done and isn't out of the question, but most insurers won't for under 25s. Assuming you are ok then you could drive your mates car 3rd party yes.

It used to be 21, until I turned 21, then it changed to 25

I'm not covered to drive cars owned by a trader or on a traders policy specifically says that.

would you not be covered by the trade insurance? I don't know how it works but does trade insurance not cover people test driving the cars?

i'd be using it to pull my corsa on the trailer for long journeys

saves me buying a big diesel if this is available...

i'd still check your policy, its not standard any more and needs to be specifically added. chances are becuase you werent 25 when you started the policy you dont have that extension

Ive not had to add it on my last 3 policy's. I do ask though just to make sure, but have never had to add it.

Very grey area imo. I've been on traders years and so have my mates and none of us know for sure what is allowed. My mates mum drives his car all the time as 'third party' but ive never been convinced that it's fully legal. You best ring the insurer up and double check.

Edit : i also doubt you'll have third party cover on your insurance so check that aswell lol.

also thinking about it, the other vehicle needs to be insured and a traders policy usually isnt on the car its on the policy holder. its definitely something id check directly with your insurer so youre 100% sure.

But on a traders policy the cars get added to the insurance database so the car is insured, like others have said its a bit of a grey area so check

really!? may just be a case of that then...

see what daily i get and i take up my new policy in april, i turn 25 in the march so il see what extra's i can add on anyway
