No, because class 2 only covers rigids it has no effect on your towing entitlement.

You'd either need to do the B+E(Car + Trailer), C1+E(upto 7500kg + trailer) or C+E(Class 1). That would obviously depend on your plans for the future as to which one was most viable.

If you're going to end up with class 1 you may as well wait for the trailer test and do it in an artic and get them all.

£2k is about the ball park although it depends based on how much tuition you need.

I'm looking to get a towing license for the nova, is there a minimum age (I'm 19) and what test do I need to do exactly? All confuses me tbh...

No age restriction, if you can hold a category B license you can hold a B+E.

Just do a search for B+E training around your area, most will advertise it as a trailer or caravan test.

Just do your class 1 (c+e) works out better because you get everything just by passing the 2 tests.

Only thing is if you want to drive commercially you need to do the CPC course.

My mate did his class 2 a few months ago through advantage. It was 1200 for the lot, training, theory, and practical. He paid a 500 deposit then the rest over a couple of months, They basically act as a middle man and link you up with what ever company to do the training etc. he said though you have to do class 2 before you can do class 1. He passed theory and practical both first time, week or so later got a job with co-op and now taking home 1900 without overtime!

I did my towing license few months back, having been towing a trailer for almost 10 years occasionally not knowing i was breaking the law, thought my tractor test covered trailers. Anyway, did it few months back, did 5 hours of lessons and my test, normally they recommend 10 hours then the test after, so 5 hours training and test cost just over £400. so glad I passed first time or it would have been another few hundred for re take.

I did all mine this year, best thing I ever did! Drive round all day, different view out the window every day, just there is a lot of waiting about, like now whilst I'm typing this I'm sat waiting to unload!

3.5t train, as long as the tow car is heaver than the laden trailer and you don't exceed any of the plated weights, ie. the car must be capable of towing something that heavy and the trailer itself must not be overweight. That includes axle loads, so rear axle on the car and each axle on the trailer.

Also there's no such thing as a 'standard' licence. Car entitlement is called category B.

Trailer is E

I have a 'standard' licence, but it comes with B, C1, D1 and E for each of those, hence the importance of naming them properly.

I passed and got a licence, still had more on than yours.

The heavier tow car thing isn't a legal requirement with +E, I had four Pumas behind my Disco the other week. Good journey, I got a massage all the way there.

Also it goes on weight the trailer can tow, not wot it's actually towing.

So for example if I have a licence for a car and tow an empty car trailer I am still braking the law color the weight I can tow.

I always thought if I towed when empty I was fine, but then again I don't think they law is that we'll known and I think if a police officer pulled you over to sure they would know the law excatly.

That's y you see people going around with tiny small trailers with logs etc in cos total weight they can tow is small so they are within the law.
