1.3mm across the central 3/4 all around the circumference of the tyre for a car.
1mm for Lorrys, Light commercials and motorcycles.

Aren't they worn down to the wear indicators? Also, legal doesn't always mean safe - doubt those grooves are going to shift much water and you'd all be pissed if someone with tyres like that came skidding into you wrecking your car.

Assuming it is tracking, I'd get pissed off having to continually hold the steering wheel against what the car is actually trying to do.
Bet the spent £££'s on electronics for Christmas too.

Loads of life in them yet!
In all seriousness it's bloody dangerous. What concerns me is a 44t truck can be 1mm yet a 1t car has to be 1.6mm :/

Maybe due to lorries having alot more surface area on the road and more weight? Nothing fancy at all about the tread patterns on them either, plain and simple and regrooved

I dunno some of the expensive Bridgestone tyres we used to have consisted of a serious pattern resulting in tiny blocks of tread compared to normal. They were great until the 600hp unit used to rip blocks off them.

The block pattern is on the rear drive tyres. On the steering axles/tag axles they usually get the basic tyres. Trailers get recut steering axle tyres or any old crap that is legal.
The scary thing is that the lorry has virtually no grip at all in the wet, Unloaded with no weight on the rear they spin up near enough all the time you are accelerating!

Alot of our trailer tyres just end up fucked with turning with 3 axles on the ground and 40tonne on them. Timber lorries are double drive too so thats 8 block tread tyres at a time for them. We have some rare bonfires
