Ordered a Cisco router in the end.
Apparently Virgin wanted a few quid extra per month to upgrade to a super hub.
At which point you say you're off to BT...

It's for Gemma's parents. They are a bit too laid back.
Her Mum was shocked when i told her i was paying £30 a month with Sky for a full packaged deal.
Just doing what she asked to keep them happy.

Well done you...........
Now Virgin wont support it if anything goes wrong. Would you like some step by step instructions on how to copy the mac address onto the cisco box?

They don't charge you extra per month for the router, as Whittie said you should've just threatened to cancel if they was the case.
They'll probably be charging you extra as you're on a legacy package, in which case if you go to cancel they'll be more likely to keep you.

You come out with some rubbish to make yourself look good. Anyone bit a bit of knowlege must piss themselves laughing at your comments at times. Please explain why virgin will not support ANYTHING that goes wrong?
This is a simple router that is using the original modem, the modem not requiring any configuration. It is a simple job of connecting the PC they have back up to the modem if in future they have any problems prior speaking with Virgin.

Same as sky. If you dont use there kit they wont support it.
They shouldn't need a router as the hub should have an ethernet connection. Unless they need wireless then a cheapy netgear would do, no need to go ott with a cisco for a home connection.

Considering how shite the SuperHub is at routing, it'd be a bit 'facepalm' to use it for that job; rather you'd stick it in modem-only mode and use what ever router you're happy with.
Either way, it sounds like you're using the Scientific/Cisco or Ambit modem, in which case bung the Linksys/'Cisco' on the end of it and go through setup. And as for support, they'll support it up to the modem; after that you're on your own - bit of a non-issue tbf as you'd remove the router, go direct to the modem and then they'll support the system as well.
And no idea why Vrs mentioned MAC cloning, you shouldn't have to do it as VM allows for a handful (limit is 2 or 3) of MAC addresses to be registered at any one time.
