one crash and already demands for inquiries and legislation changes

There's always going to be someone who opens there mouth before seeing all the facts though. Its the same with any high profile accident.

I can't see them banning helicopters over London, it's a ridiculous thing to suggest. The amount of powerful business people that rely on them is huge, and the revenue at Battersea Helipad must also be quite substantial given that the landing fees alone are around £1000 a time!

That was only for the olympics iirc. As far as I know, its only nuclear sites that are no fly zones in the UK.

Just ban people who clearly can't walk properly.

All power stations (bar things like wind turbines), prisons, laser testing sites, military sites and all sorts of other places have restrictions.

Helicopters aren't banned - there are routes and restrictions though: http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/7/20100316LondonHeliChart.pdf

They have to have the heli lanes over the thames in case of engine failures etc., and I guess it would also help with navigation with VFRs

It says It says "Flights by single engined Helicopters normally prohibited except along the River Thames" not "Helicopters are banned" though.

Exactly and it's single engines anyway. It was an Agusta 109 which was involved in this crash, which is twin-engined.
