Has anyone seen the piston heads article about the new rules at the ring...
Bucket seats with ‘ears’ (as the Germans delightfully refer to them) are not allowed. Those are the seats with wrap-around head restraints.
The famous Hans device neck-restraint is also banned from public driving.
Roll cages with doorbars that restrict access are banned.
Roll cages must be padded. Not with proper FIA crash-absorbing materials. Nobody will check that. Just any old foam will do.
Aftermarket snap-off steering wheels are also verboten.
250 Euro penatly for drifting too
What do people think? I think its a good thing but i cant see how they can enforce some areas like the door bars. Who decides if it restricts access?

It's a good thing in the sense of what they're trying to achieve will be successful, because race cars won't pass the rules. But they will affect alot of road cars, particularly the steering wheel. That's where common sense should prevail by staff.

Alot of people are worried about full cages with door bars too now! But i guess most people go when its not a track day so it helps a little

It's only if they're steering wheel height I believe. Most normal cages aren't that high

If the rules are enforced that will be another topic altogether.

Well that's me never taking my Nova to the ring then lol. I can see where they are coming from looking to increase safety.
Another good read regarding the rule.

eh?
How does banning safety measure increase safety?
A cage, full bucket seats and HANS device are there to help in the event of a crash.
People dont fit/wear them to look cool :S
I get the impression its to stop full on track/race cars from doign the TF days, nothing to do with 'Safety' other than keeping metallists to private trackdays
