If you are on about the MR2 with the Silver body, with the black roof and side trim, then they are not Anniversary models.

Anniversary models were Rev 3 (10th Anniversary). The car i think he is on about was just a Limited Edition colour available from Rev 4 to Rev 5, known as Sonic Shadow.

It has all the turbo bits - tobledone indicators, square plate (import) and raised vents on the lid.

Looks well.

Toblerone's and square plate aren't turbo specific though. Granted the engine cover is, but then the give away could be the Rev 3+ lights on a Rev 2 car could mean its just had some bits changed. The dead give away is the G-Limited badge on the boot.

T-Bar leaks are the most common, but theres 2 or 3 easy fixes for them that wont cost you £400 (for new seals)

Rev3 3S-GE Engines (UK Models) are the 174bhp engines, earlier Rev's were the 150bhp 3S-GE and 3S-FE. Jap imports were 165-ish bhp 3S-GE's

They're fun, they do seem to eat rear tyres for fun though, possibly down to driving style.

I hoon it about most times, everywhere, and get around 18-22mpg. If I try really really hard I can get around 24mpg out of it. MPG isn't their strong point.

RE: Rust, yeh, sills mainly, and top of the windscreen surround.

Knocks from the rear, droplinks.

Tis about it really, other than that, slap a filter on and a manifold andexhaust and it livens right up. About £400 in bits and you'll have a nice mr2.

Wheels can get expensive due to staggered width and different offset front and rear.

dave

The import MR2's came with the same engine as the period UK cars. Rev 1/2 had the 158bhp 3SGE in both UK and Japan. Rev 3 had the 174bhp engine in both cars. The imports made slightly more power as they were ran on higher ron fuel. The imports never came with just the 1 variation of the 3SGE.

Also, front strut top mounts are bad for wearing out. And the "cancer bars" rust away to nothing.

Thats a widow maker.

Rev 1 Import. Check insurance 1st on the imports as they do cost more to insure than a UK car.

Yes but most turbos have the toblerone lights and square plates. Unless someone changed them?
