i'd suggest to retake the shot without your address on it. however the basic's are, if this is a council letter then pay it. If it's private then ignore it.

my dad received a parking fine in december. he was pictured in a retail park car park (similar to yours i guess).
he looked on internet forums and the general concensus was to ignore it as it's a private company and not a council fine. he has since received a letter from a 'debt management company' tlling him to pay the fine or he will be taken to court. he has ignored this letter too.
eventually they go away, although 99% of people would pay up when receiving a letter like this. i read it and it's quite threatening.
they have no way of identifying the driver of the vehicle from your picture, and as they are a private company you are not entitled to inform them who was driving the vehicle at that time.

What happens if you get a court summons through the post but you ignore it or never open the letter? Will the police eventually come round your house?

You'll never get a court summons though. Bailiffs can only come round and collect the money if they're sent by a court too. The solicitors letters they'll send you are phoney too.
Ignore, don't pay, don't even respond.

Letters they send are so shit its a joke. Look like a poor photocopy and sometimes I had 2 sent the same day. The. The threatening letter saying if its not paid in 10 days blah blah then there will be court action, I heard that several times and was well over 10 days
If in doubt check out the pepipoo forums

I know, probably should have said off topic, I was just curious as to what would happen generally

I think in general if you get a summons but don't attend, everything goes ahead as normal but obviously you don't get to have your say and later you receive a letter informing you as to what happened in court and what you need to do now that you've lost the case.
That's obviously if it's your case, in terms of witnesses, I imagine it'd be the same bar the letter.

Was about to mention this, would be funny if someone got one of these fake court letters and took them to court for impersonation.

If it was a court summons from a Police or Council issued ticket, you could potentially end up getting yourself arrested. Obviously more likely with a Police one, but not something that would happen overnight. You'd more thsn likely just end up with a bigger fine and getting your car seized for non payment of fines.
