some people say dextron 2(power steering fluid)but i believe the correct type is 80-90,there is a few oil that people say ep80,75-90,80-90 so to be sure look at a haynes or contact vaux.

ATF fluid or 75w90 will be fine, but best stuff to use is from Vauxhall

Not anywhere do vauxhall list atf which is dextron 2 for manual gearboxes, that is for auto gearboxes so why people are using this i don`t know?
ep80 is for the older vauxhall gearboxes and the newer f17/f18 are listed to take 75/90 also but how much different the two are i don`t know and how much damage using dextron 2 fliud in a manual will do i don`t know either.
I have checked nova/astra/belmont/cavalier and vectra workshop manuals and none say dextron 2 for a manual gearbox!
gm oils part number is 90188629.

my local vauxhall dealership doesn`t know what grade their gm 90188926 oil is but from talking to older mechanics dextron 2 was used in gm boxes for a time when they had oil problems.
The ep80 was to thick when very cold and causing problems sometimes and dextron 2 was to thin and causing other damage to happen so vauxhall had their own oil developed for these gearboxes which seems to be 75/90.
So i stand corrected dextron 2 was used but only as a tempory measure!
