Hand your notice in at my place,
You get escorted to collect your tool box,
Which they'll drop off, then escorted off premises and work your notice on garden leave.
Even if its on a good note.

I'm also considering moving on after 7 years here however I've seen what they do fowk that do try and resign and it looks stressful as F*ck! Threatening legal letters etc.

In my experience cutting your nose off to spite your face will almost always come back and bite you in the arse at one point.
I'd grin and bear it for the sake of a couple of weeks.

What can they do if you don't work it? Drag you in by your ear?

When I handed mine in at my last job 12 months ago, went in on the monday and gave it to my line manager, and he asked what i was going doing and he said fair play. Then a couple of hours later when the main boss came in I had to sit in his office and tell him why I was leaving and he was trying everything to make me stay.
In the end i worked my weeks notice and was treated no different to the time I worked there and left on good terms.
Only thing I miss from the place is the laughs you had whilst you where working, Nothing else!

I was a lifting gear engineer from 18 and worked for a German company for about 4 years. I got poached by a client who regularly came in for products. I didn't mind my job and loved the banter etc but it was an £8 am hour job with a Ford Ranger and phone etc so left.
Worked my arse off for 4 weeks until the last second, I actually did overtime on the last day
2 years later the old MD rang me to say he was starting his own company and needed me. Another big pay rise and a big challenge.
I left there after taking it from nothing to a 2 million turnover company in 3 years for personal reasons but I know they'd have me back in a heartbeat. I'm still in contact with my old colleagues regarding technical help etc.
Just a shame I don't want to work in that industry anymore

Even when you leave a company nicely it can still bite you in the arse.
