Iv just fitted a c20let turbo engine from a cavalier to my 2000 corsa b over the last few weeks. Started it up and it constantly idles at 2000/2200rpm. Iv had the idle control valve off cleaned it and checked its working with i 12v power supply it opens and closes ok tho it never closes completly it stays open bout 1or2mm is this normal ? Also when i disconnect the 2pin connector from the icv the engine runs better and drops to 1100 which is still a bit high. When i connect the plug back on to the icv the revs go stright back up again to 2000/2200rpm.
Anyone any ideas on this ?
Thanks in advance for any replies !

Check for air leaks or blocked breathers.

As said, check the breathers and for air leaks and anything you`ve touched then double check!as for the icv it will be open slightly for the engine to idle as the throttle body should be completly closed hence the use of the idle control valve. Can you get hold of another just to try.

I have checked for leaks and cant find anyso dont think thats the problem, tried swapping the idle control valve and it makes no difference i put one icv on the car and pluged the other icv into the wiring harness and as soon as i done that the icv opened more. So something must be telling the ecu to open it. What could it be ? Iv replaced the throttle position sensor, coolant sensor, crank sensor, thermostat. Also now iv noticed the tem guage in the car is slow to move the engine has to be boiling before it starts to move at all then the water bubbles out of the bottle. Its not leaking from the head or anything. Could the water pump be knackered ? iv checked the thermostat in boiling water and its opening ok. Im thinking if the water pump is knackered its not pumping the hot water to the coolant sensor which is making the ecu think the engine is cold all the time causing high revs. Any ideas ????

You got the correct plug on it as the knock sensor is on same loom. Think knock sensor is a red plug if I remember right.
