I'm selling my car tomorrow but I need to take my plate off first. Can the new owner use the slip to tax the car at the end of the month???

99% sure they can, my mate just bought a car and that's what he ended up doing and it was ok.

3 months, actually. Any longer and you need to change the date on the slip.

Or up to 6 months at a DVLA local office.

Also, he won't or shouldn't use the new keeper slip as it will have the current reg plate on the system.

Its a bit of hassle for a buyer and ive never understood why sellers sell a car while the private plate is still on it but being removed. Selling it while its all done and back on the normal plates is better surely.

It is better but takes a lot longer. I suppose its only 2 weeks tax that'll be lost so no biggy.

I used my slip from 18 months ago in January, without problems. Mainly because the documents were t home at the slip was in the car floating about.

my apologies. 1 month out is better than an infinite timescale.
