really cant safe enough about the cage, marshals and medics... The cage hasn't budged. It has a fair amount of gusseting/bracing and isnt a cheapie dashdodger either... cannot say how important these are in track cars! It was from Custom Cages (T45 Multipoint weld in) and fitted superbly by Murdo at Wallace Performance - and then MSA certified.

6 Point harnesses, FIA head protection bucket seat, neck brace, fire proof race suit, fire proof gloves, boots, plumbed in fire system (6 point, 4l twin), fia cut offs. Foam filled fuel cell with extra roll over protection on vents

Really cant recommend them enough, and would advise anyone to think about more about spending on safety over 10bhp more

Fee was upside down in the car for about 10mins, and required dug out before being released from harnesses as the car had filled with gravel, due to the front windscreen being destroyed (laminated so didnt shatter), and doors being ripped off/open.

During this the gearbox/transfer box was also leaking oil into the cabin... breathers!

Damage - still to asses, but safe to say she doesn't seem to phased by it as she is already talking about what she'll race next (I haven't written this fucker off yet )

On the reverse direction... she was prob doing 110 round a bend before hard on the brakes for the off camber clarks (with the raised kerb on the inside)

I have no doubt she wouldnt have rolled had the raised kerb not been there.

It's impractical when you've got to stop for a specialist service halfway through a TA stage...

How come she couldn't get out of the harness? Surely being the right way up would be more comfortable

This is a good advert for people thinking that a 4 point roll cage is good enough

Fair does. So it wasn't like the harness was stopping her getting out if needed?

no.... it was more of a case of that was the best thing to do. Marshals were there in seconds.

The released her with padding etc under her (above )

Yeah I did wonder if that was why.

Glad to hear she walked away from it in one piece anyways.

Glad she's okay. Must have been pretty scary being stuck in the car half buried!!

This is why these volunteer marshals get so much of my respect for the job they do.

When I've got more time I'm going to get involved.

That looks fixable, cage has protected the structure. Similar to Hamishs Quattro... Doors, wing, roof. Probably bit more damage up close but doesn't look that bad.

Main thing is Fee is ok and in the mind set to jump back in a track car!

aye, thats my thoughts...

new roof, new bonnet, new doors (grp anyway)

The rest looks easy, as long at the front left isnt too badly mangled.

I'm no where near the car though so nothing is happening quickly. I'd have had it in bits by now

tbh if it is a write off you may as well get another r32, then you can transfer all the bits and shes used to driving one?

cage alone costs thousands... i think it would be easier to work round it, rather than replace.

Again though.... I have no idea at this point... my mind is all ready wondering

Mini Challange car, BMW compact cup, another Impreza.
