Does anyone know of anywhere decent for purchasing car batteries apart from the usual places (ECP, CarParts4Less, Halfords etc)?

There's a place round here called midland battery supplies.

Not sure if there's a similar one round your way?

Why 'apart from the usual' out of interest?

Already did. But as i don't have relatives who have shoe boxes full of money in their attics which i can go steal to splurge on a battery, i thought i'd ask fellow forum members and see if they had recommendations for places that are good on price outside the usual vendors.

Brother mentioned them as well and said they were pretty reasonable but currently they seem more expensive than ECP.

that's pretty crap tbh. my bosch one cost me £55 from costco with a 5 year guarantee. when the puma fucked up a year later, i took it back saying it wasn't working and got the full amount refunded.

£40 with no guarantee?

I can probably do one with at least 3 years on it for that.

Fair enough

Some places like halfords charge £100 for their premium battery, and most people are over the moon to pay £40

Cheers for all recommendations but ended up getting a Bosch S4 (063), had them before no issues etc etc, for £40 from ECP (managed to find a discount code); seemed to be the cheapest place for it, comes with 4 years guarantee and picked it up from a branch just up the road (never knew it was there).

Although, has anyone had experience of Exide batteries? Good, Bad?
They appear to offer better specs than Bosch batteries for similar money but reviews seem to be a bit hit or miss - either people rave about them or absolutely slate them.

From a biased point of view, the Exide ones are awesome.

They are our main seller (the Exide Excell in particular) and we never have warranty issues.

The Exide Premium tends to be better spec than a Bosch S5 but for less money so we sell a load of them too.

I fitted Exide to the Insignia when it failed and it's been fine, also had one on the MX5 for about 12 months with no issues.

Batterymegastore.co.uk / batterymegauk on ebay. Bought a Varta F18 for my M3 from their ebay store last week. £40 cheaper minimum than most other places and next day delivery.

To be fair, on steve's link, there are batteries delivered to your address for £35 with 4 year guarantees. The better batteries are up to £58 delivered with a 5 year guarantee. Not bad considering it's delivered..
