Can understand why people are pissed.
Spent dec-April there,
Where I was staying the money that was meant to be spent on flood protection and early warning systems ended up in the mayors back pocket,
And while I was there aload of people died in flooding in the very town I wa staying in, brazil is so corrupt it's unbelievable, mate got mugged in rio as well, though I had no issues when I visited there for the day here and there.

Because it costs millions too, they're spending millions on a sport and taking money away from health and education, and they aren't really in a position to do that

Yes but having been to Rio the changes to infrastructure will do it wonders so having the World Cup and Olympics to do this is a good excuse otherwise I would imagine they would find other ways of spending the money
