Need some help, and hoping one of you knowledgable lot on here will know.

A while back now I was driving home from work, about 70mph when it started to "hop" and cut out on the hard shoulder. When left, it would restart but as soon as you tried pulling away, would cut out.

Had the vehicle towed home, and got to work on trying to diagnose.

First thing I read was slipped chain. When I went to replace it, it was 1 tooth out (if that'll make a difference and effect the above) so full new chain kit, tensioners, water pump were fitted. Also had new plugs, fuel filter, egr, maf, cts, cam and crank sensors.

Now, when you turn it over, it goes to start but isn't interested, UNLESS you spray easy start in, in which it'll start but cut out.

Have made sure there is fuel going to the rail, and if you push the valve in and turn it over, it squirts out, so that's ok, yes?

EML comes on sometimes, but not all. It also didn't come on when it originally cut out.

So, based on the above, does anyone have any ideas? I can put up a video if it would help!

I did clean mine - partially - couldn't open it up completely because of the antii tamper torx screws and someone stealing my anti tamper torx set!!

prone to fail on them, replaced it on my gfs old one

Cheers for that!

I've had another thought, but sure if I'm miles off track??

The car runs & revs if you spray, ezstart into the throttle body. There is also fuel getting the valve as it squirts out if you push it in.

Could it be injectors full of crap? It was ran quite low admittedly....

Surely that would clear them out then if it starts on it? valve in the tb might be sticky....

Had a brand new genuine maf

Have stripped TB down and cleaned it, shiney silver now!
