Right now I've had my ECU rebuilt and it has no fault codes.
If I fit it back on the car and the car still has a fault, will it then store the fault code and even if I got a new part will it clear the code?
Apparently the Mk4 Astra has to be hooked up to clear fault codes from the ECU?
Long story but I don't want to get a fault code stored on my ECU when it's just been cleared and have to pay for it to be removed!

You should have just bought a working car m8.
But yes, fault code will be stored till it's removed generally.

Tell me about it! Once it's working again is gone 
It's in limp mode at the moment so if I fit the ECU and it goes back into limp mode will it store the code until I fit a new part or will I have to fit the part then get it cleared?

1st of all what fault do you think it might have??
And iirc, once the part has been fitted, after a certain period of time the ECU will learn that the part is no longer at fault and the light will go off. Not sure if the code will be wiped off, but who's to know.

If its throwing a light on, it may possibly go off once the part is replaced, but will still store in ecu.

Well it had a Throttle position sensor fault originally. Took it to a Vaux specialist who said it was the ECU. They are mounted on the side of the engine so eventually give up the ghost inside causing all sorts of random codes to pop up.
Had the ECU rebuilt by the ECU doctor and fitted it back to the car. Fault was still there and still in limp mode. Pedal test confirmed. The garage said the ECU must still be faulty as all there tests were clear.
Sent ECU back and recieved it back today and they have given it the all clear! So I've just bought a throttle body off eBay and want to fit that before I refit the ECU BUT I wanted to see if I did would be able to fit the ECU without the fault code getting stored.
If you get me

If you replace the TPS before the ecu, then in theory, if that's what it is it should be fixed? An shouldn't go in limp mode I wouldn't have thought.
I would have thought if you put ecu on as is, it will put into limp mode as still has knackered sensor.
If you put ecu on after replacing sensor, should be ok?

Well yeah but I'm an impatient fucker and wanted to start using my car again before the TPS turns up  just wondered if I fitted the ECU to try the car out would it 'Store' the limp mode and even if I fitted a working TPS would I them have to go to Vaux to have the limp mode removed.

My mate had this problem, x20xev engine?
He used to change camshaft sensors monthly, and tps sensors, turns out they share a couple of same wires in the loom, if I remember correctly
So worth checking that, it's usually the tps, camshaft sensor, loom or the ecu.
It's a popular problem.

What car is it? I have new style plug an op com to clear codes. And only live in ellsmereport. Will be fixing my car all day at a frends 2moz i will have laptop with me. I dont mind doing it.

yes change the faulty part first then the ecu,it sounds like you have the siemens symtec ecu that bolts on to the inlet manifold?only use good quality sensors as the cheaper ones non`t often work because the sensor values that are set inside the ecu are so close.
