Does any one know if the ecu chips off eBay for about £60 are actually any good? Thanks

No. They're a bodge which may get you 1-2bhp if you're lucky but they could also lose you power depending on which bodge the chip is based on. There won't be a noticeable difference but some are potentially dangerous towards your engine, I wouldn't try one even if I was given it for free.

You are best off gettin it mapped as that will e custom to your mods and give best gains

Average price for good non turbo remap is about £200
Have a look at Superchips and depending what and how old your car is depends on wether its chip change or can be mapped.

And yes power box inlet is a must. Double the gains of a remap at harf the price

Poke up with the X14XE as is and buy another car when you can afford it.
