Im thinking of replacing my alternator for a v belt one to stop it griding through my chassis leg at last. It looks a right barsteward to do and i wandering if its even possible to change with the inlet manifold on and so the engine will need removing. Just wondering if anyone had replaced one with the manifold on?
Cheers.

Drop it down the back of the engine by doing it from underneath.

I done it from underneath. Took driveshaft out though skit would clear. Somebody said afterward it was possible with shaft in, but I tried twisting it all way and directions. A lot easier if you have somebody above the car holding in place if you're doing it on side of the street

I did it as generation said without taking shaft out, undid it all from underneath then took the air filter and afm off, after wiggling it about for 5 mins it eventually found the right angle and came out
