Fake notes are alot more common than people think.
Everyone just assumes tens and twenties will be forged and not fives as they aren't worth the bother but there is probably more of them than both put together. Its less likely to be checked and easier to spend without suspicion.

Jim, Australian and apparently it was for allowing him and the others with him to let loose and be treated like normal people, he had his helicopter fly him back after they'd left to give my ex missus his NY Yankees baseball cap too.

My ex was a hotel manager and I helped out that week as my background is running bars and restaurants although I don't do that now.

He is quite a famous actor.

You've mentioned this story before.
As John said, Russell Crowe during the Robin Hood shoots near you.

Right. So I presume the large bundle of cash was for securing services and materials that one can't really discuss on a public forum then Lee?

That's about as close to name dropping as you could get without doing it.

fair enough everyone has their own opinion.
Just my experience through work as we deal with a shit load more dodgy fives than anything else.

Not at all, we had the majority of Leeds Rhinos in one night as he was trying to sign them to his Aussie rules team. Also had Scott Grimes and Kevin Durand in at the same time; total hotel takeover and as I was set a fair way from the road in the middle of nowhere, they all said it was the first hotel where they weren't ushered into a side room with no windows so they could actually relax and enjoy themselves.

It's not really worth faking, so most don't bother

There were loads of fake £1 coins going around Birmingham a few years ago when I used to live there. The Queen's head didn't match up with the detail on the other side and they were made from a much softer metal. I spent the one I was holding onto as a souvenir

I've seen plenty of fake £5 notes. Much easier to get rid of as people don't hold them up like a "spastic" to inspect the materiel weight and transparency of the watermark.

Had a couple of fake £20's before, as much as people check for them they still accepted them. They had the watermark and the silver strip, only time you could tell was if you used a pen, but who does that on £20 notes? Only 50's.

Must admit I was nervous getting rid of them, my fault for accepting them in the first place but it was the first time so I never thought of checking notes more.

the only people who should have £50 notes should be sheepish lookign tourists :\

When i lvied in Dublin and only had a £ account, i sued to take out in €200 blocks but had to swiftly change that to €190 as otherwise you just got a damn €200 note that you couldnt use anywhere €100s were almost as bad tbh!
