After being broken into started looking into house alarm systems have no idea on prices so first up got a local guy who advertises in parish rag
He said £500 supplies and fitted
Alarm on front of house dummy on rear
3 sensors just cover down stairs
Key pad panel
Moble alert(rings mobile if alarm goes off)
Any suggestions what have you lot got paid for?

Have an ADT monitored alarm system. Pay £15 per month, cant remember if there was an install cost as it was so long ago. We 5 door/window contacts covering the downstairs. Have a keypad, and a keyfob reader (although all our fobs stopped working).
If a zone goes faulty or into alarm it dials ADT and they act on it, by calling police or an engineer. The panel also has Police/Fire/Paramedic panic buttons.

My dad bought one off ebay for about 200 quid which sounds exactly like the one you describe, stu. Fitted it himself.
Can't remember the make but it already served it's purpose after some little cunts broke in then shit themselves and swiftly left.

I got a guy out the local paper. 4 sensors and front door plus bell box and keypad. £130 fitted.
All wired.
Budget kit but still going after 4 years.
Wireless stuff looks alright at the minute.

I've got a wireless setup. Yale. Cost circa £400. But have 2 live sirens, extra pet sensors, keypads up and down and telephone dialler.
Easy to fit and pretty reliable. Batteries last 18 months to 2 years ish. Run off AAA, CR2032 and D Cell batteries.

That would cost me 200 quid at cost for anything decent. I think he may have stole the kit, ironically.

Just take your time and pick suitable locations. Test they can still be picked up by the control unit before drilling walls etc...
Ebay often has decent prices for extra PIRs, Pet PIRs, Sirens and Keypads.
I'd also upgrade the internal contol panel battery to this one:

I also put the socket the alarm is plugged in to, on it's own RCD. It was easy as it was close to the Consumer Unit. Saves the battery getting hammered each time you want to switch off the downstairs/upstairs ring main. (I had a new build so power was always going off while work was ongoing)
Get stuck on anything then give me a shout. Had mine for about 3 and bit years.
