Are all the shells the same or have any of them got reinforcing that would make them more desirable?

only difference iv found is that pre and post 97 rear seats (back rest part) click in different and a/c and non a/c have different holes in the bulk head. not founds any other difference

Post 97 shells were supposed to have the internal mod to stop the b-pillar from cracking due to where the seatbelt mount is positioned.
I have seen a few (not alot) post 97 shells with the cracks, but they could have been in an accident.
Mines post 97 and mine is spot on.
Pre 97 do seem to be common with the issue.

Cheers for that info mate. My 2000 Sports got pillar crack on one side but im looking for a shell for a hillclimber.

i do remember seeing a receipt in the pile of old papers with my first ever corsa b and it was recalled at some point for something done on the B pillars/seat belt area... cant remember exactly now, that was a post 97 envoy. but other than that and the above iv never heard that before...
did a bit of searching on this myself as i was trying to find out if a povvy spec shell or even a pre 97 shell weighs less but they all about the same really

Pinky....I may have a shell. Will be breaking a 1.6sport soon t reg iirc. Need to get on ramp 1st as I know it needs a patch on fuel filler neck inside boot. Car is still actually mot'd til may 14 too :s.

I'd say things possibly changed from the 8v stuff to the chain 16v stuff.

The later post 97 shells had extra strengthening fillets on the cross member and B pillar strengtheners to prevent cracking.

yeah, sorry, forgot to mention that.. the rubber mount sits inside the chassis leg on post 97's.. shite idea that though (engine once fell out while driving)

i didnt notice that however 90% of corsas (pre and post) are all cracked there anyway
putting box section cross member in my next one

has anyone ever noticed the sound proofing shite to be different, seemed a lot easier to get out of a pre 97 ones i did
