DVLA are cheeky gits. They ask for silly money for the plates then they put that you must space it legally which most of the time means the plate doesn't spell what you bought it for

ANPR can read the spacing regardless. It may have issues with wacky fonts but legal lettering and odd spacing makes no difference to it. Otherwise it would struggle with F1 to F1 XXX to F1XX XXX.

It's bullshit. You'd think the DVLA they would relax a little and let it be spaced a little different. With the crackdown of local police I can't be arsed any more and will run it legal.

Just buy a decent car instead, then people can be impressed by your car rather than some shitty combination of letters and numbers that you have to explain what they mean.

I didn't mean you in particular.

I even see people driving around in standard new cars with racing stripes and numbers, vinyl and basically chavvy type things, but they don't drive fast or overtake anyone. They haven't gone to halfords and bought this shite, the car manufacturers offer them as optional extras.

Seems what the youth were doing and got hated for in the 90's and early 00's is now deemed "individual" and "a bit of character" and its totally ok for some 50yr old woman to be driving a hot hatch done up like its from a mcdonalds carpark. And for some reason they can't see the difference.

Same, had mine 10 years, spent over £1000 moving it to different cars in that time but still worth it.
