Had my offer accepted on a flat yesterday and my mortgage accepted today with nationwide
Looking at tv bundles for the future, what's the best bang for buck? I watch mainly discovery, universal then just the normal channels in HD.
Virgin with Internet and phone seems the best deal at about £50 a month? But I have no experience with it!

I only have experience of Sky, but I keep getting flyers from Virgin who seem to have good deals.

Virgin are great if you'll never want sky movies/sports packs, so perfect for you. Reasonable price also.

Virign is avlaible in the flat i'm purchasing, but the HD pack is £63.99 including TV, 60mb broad band and phone.
Seem's quite good as the equivalent Sky is £55 and that internet is a max speed of 20mb. Plus it sounds like there are more features through Virgin with the box etc?

I'm in the same boat. I could probably Google this but what would be the cheapest/best way to get the Sky Sports channel's and BT Sports?

I have the virgin £63pm pack. They do some good deals worth every penny IMO. Loads of hd and documentary channels. The best internet and box too.

Sky+ is great though, depends what you want/need.
I'm around £60 for phone/broadband/full sky package with 2 +HD boxes. I still watch it enough to justify it at the moment.

What are they like to live with compared to say sky or virgin. Ie do they need updates a lot, or lose connection, do they bite.
Thinking of buying one.

Crap. They'll lose connection if there is a problem with the CS server or your internet connection.

Disagree tbh. OK, occasionally you have to update the channel list, and yes, if you're internet is down (??) it won't work. Not sure what cs server John was using but mine is fine. You just cannot argue with £90 worth of Sky for a tenner (or less). If you watched all the PPV stuff you get on top, the saving would be even greater.

Depends on what aspect.
In terms of picture, its fine, is it as good as my SkyHD box, Can't say as its in the bedroom. Does it need updating, No, does it loose the connection, in terms of normal signal no more than the SkyHD box. if you are wanting to do card sharing then it massively comes down to the reliability of the server you are using.
In terms of the box and its features, think of it as a Ford KA and the SkyHD as a Bentley. They are miles apart. No EPG, recording is crap, scheduling is rubbish, navigation is poor, no on demand etc etc.
