Just had the rac man out , he told me the gear has come off the starter motor..

is this true? ive never heard that before , and he said our company we use £ 100 - 200 for a starter motor ..

I've never heard of it before, been a mechanic for 5 years I've heard of the teeth grinding off them or them just freewheeling along with the ring gear on the flywheel but never actually come off...

Got mine from eurocarparts for 65 quid on exchange of old one.

no point messing around with it, especially in this weather.

If can happen. Depends on if ther plastic or metal teeth. And as kraz said. I've seen them slip and grind the teeth right down.

So called mechanics are generally shite and not interested these days. Just want to change brake pads all day and seems to be endless customers paying for things like topping up the screenwash.

Annoys me.

i asked about my breakes to be done on the rear, when i said shoes 150 quid fitted..

id rather sell the car., currently listed on ebay .

That's why a lot of completly fine cars get sold due to running costs. Could probably do it for less then a third of that.
