Can i use the mains plug off a samsung etc with a iphone cable to charge? I have 2/3 mains for a samsung and been tight on paying the £22 for a apple charger and not buying a £1 special off ebay?

Yes, any USB plug will be fine.

£1 special off ebay maybe be lower amps (I think? I'm not an electrician...) which means it might charge a bit slower, but if it's an overnight charger it won't matter one jot

The £1 special off ebay will have the absolute bare minimum of components to get the 230V from the wall to it's 5V output. It won't have been designed with longevity or safety in mind.

Apple's chargers are actually good bits of engineering, as always.

However, it should be about £5, not £25.

Samsung one will be as good as the Apple one, just with a slightly lower price tag.

got a cable off ebay and works fine with a htc wall plug. saved myself £20!

I use my samsung and nexus 7 plug to charge my apple devices as well
